Napier Municipal Theatre provides modern facilities including a counterweight fly-tower, up-to-date sound, lighting, and data systems, as well as a fully masked stage, orchestra pit, scene dock, dressing rooms and more.
Our team of experienced technical experts will work with you to ensure your event takes advantage of what our theatre has to offer. With skills in audio, lighting, theatre rigging and all other stage equipment, our team are happy to help with whatever you may need.
Our lighting configuration provides a wonderful basis that serves most users with everything they need for a well-lit and visually captivating show. Our control equipment is simple to use and, if required, we are able to provide training or experienced operators. Our standard design is pre-rigged to provide a basic colour or open white wash. If you are touring performances with a specific design, we can help by sourcing additional equipment or crew, as well as providing on the ground technical support from pack-in to pack-out.
Our house sound system provides clear and undistorted sound reproduction throughout the auditorium and services the vast majority of shows we host. Installed is an Adamson Line Array controlled by a Midas M32. Monitors and additional equipment are available on request. For additional assistance, please contact our venue resources co-ordinator.
Dressing rooms are located on the stage level and on level two. Each room is lockable and features wide-lit make-up mirrors and countertops, costume racks, and stage monitor screens with sound. Two star dressing rooms with ensuites are available. Toilets and showers are in close proximity to the dressing rooms.
The theatre has a third stage counterweight system consisting of 54 line sets and two panorama bars.
First installed in 1995 with further upgrades in 2013 and 2021, this system enables the suspension of lighting, drapery and scenery.
